Where to take IELTS in Delhi
IDP runs IELTS in India: the British Council sold its Indian IELTS business to IDP in 2021, so you book every IELTS test in Delhion IDP’s website.
Elsewhere in the NCR, IDP lists IELTS for UKVI centres in Gurugram and Noida.

IELTS fees in Delhi
IDP charges the same fees at every Indian test centre. Fully paper-based IELTS has been discontinued in India; Writing on Paper keeps a handwritten Writing test with Listening and Reading on computer.

Taking IELTS from Delhi
In New Delhi, IDP lists IELTS venues in Nehru Place in the south and Pitampura in the north-west, and the wider NCR has its own centres in Gurugram and Noida. Candidates living in Gurugram, Noida or Ghaziabad can often book closer to home than a central Delhi venue.
Delhi candidates sit IELTS for university study, for Canada and other migration routes, and for UK work visas. For Canada's Express Entry, IRCC converts each IELTS General Training skill to a CLB level separately, so one weak skill can hold down your whole profile.
Aim above the minimum for Canada
CLB 7 needs 6.0 in each General Training skill, but CLB 9 (Listening 8.0, Reading 7.0, Writing 7.0, Speaking 7.0) earns more points. Work on your weakest skill first, because each one is scored separately.

How much is the IELTS fee in Delhi?
₹19,000 for IELTS Academic or General Training and ₹19,250 for IELTS for UKVI, the same as every other Indian city. Moving to a different date costs ₹4,750 (₹4,850 for UKVI).
Should I book IELTS in Delhi, Gurugram or Noida?
All three are on IDP's list of IELTS for UKVI centres. The test and fee are the same, so choose the venue that is easiest to reach early on test day, and check the reporting time on your confirmation.
What IELTS score do I need for Canada Express Entry?
CLB 7 needs IELTS General Training 6.0 in each skill. CLB 9 needs Listening 8.0, Reading 7.0, Writing 7.0 and Speaking 7.0. IRCC converts each skill separately; your overall band is not used.
Which IELTS do I need for a UK Skilled Worker visa?
IELTS for UKVI (Academic or General Training) with at least 5.5 in each skill, which is CEFR B2. This has applied to new Skilled Worker applicants since 8 January 2026. Standard IELTS is not accepted for UK visas.
